LA Tours in Spring

May 12th, 2016

It’s cliché, it’s cheesy, and it’s loads of fun. No trip to the Los Angeles area is complete without taking a tour or two. It’s the best way to see all the highlights, especially when you claim a seat on top of a double decker. Recently, some of the Kardashians went undercover as tourists on a local bus, proving that even celebrities can’t resist the call of the classic outing. LA is brimming with high quality tour companies, such as Starline Tours which offers a variety of tour options including hop-on, hop-off, stars’ homes, and quintessential Los Angeles highlights.

Visit the Aquarium of the Pacific

April 9th, 2016

No trip to the golden coast is complete without heading under the sea—or at least visiting the full-time residents! At the Aquarium of the Pacific, the whole family can enjoy a day of meeting sea creatures. Special exhibits are always popping up, and in April there’s the Jellies exhibit, which showcases one of the ocean’s most mysterious and beautiful residents.

There’s also the Southern California Steelhead Story; an exhibit that’s immersive and tells the tale of local waterways and why this fish plays a key role. The penguins have arrived, the first in the aquarium’s history, and now is the time to meet them at the new June Keyes Penguin Habitat. Head to the Ocean Science Center, hosted by NOAA, and explore the why’s and how’s behind the ocean.

Dive In!

The Molina Animal Care Center is where you get to see veterinarians in action in over 14,000 square feet. It’s a healthcare center for sea-faring residents, tucked right behind Shark Lagoon. Environmentally sensitive practices and preservation are a top priority of the aquarium.

Don’t miss The Southern California/Baja Gallery, home to animals who call the coastline from Baja to Oregon home. You can easily spend several days here, so map out your plan of action now!

Your Ultimate Spring Break Guide

March 15th, 2016

If you’re traveling to Anaheim during spring break, you are lucky to be in one of the hottest spring break destinations in the country! With all the southern California beaches at your fingertips, you can spend each day at a different location. Venice Beach, Muscle Beach, Manhattan Beach, and more are all an easy drive away. Dine on some of the freshest seafood along the coast, or take a surf lesson to really assimilate.

Having fun in the waters

The Disney adventure awaits, with weekdays between Tuesday and Thursday being the quietest during this busy time of year. A number of theaters and cinemas are available, including the Main Street Cinema in Disneyland that features only family-friendly classics in this old school palace of a theater.

Break Up Your Routine

Spend the day in Hollywood taking a tour of star’s homes, or head to Universal Studios for the real all-star experience. Knott’s Berry Farm is a great alternative for thrill seekers who need more amusement park fun, or try the charming boardwalk in Malibu.

Shopping is an extreme sport here, whether you head to the outlet malls or to the glitz of famous boutique couture shops. Make the most of your spring break by planning ahead and choosing a comfortable hotel.

Check Out the Local US Military Ships

March 12th, 2016

There are some incredible vessels permanently docked in the Anaheim area which have been converted into museums and theaters. Discover some of the previously active-duty ships during your trip, like the USS Midway, which was an aircraft carrier. So large that it initially couldn’t access the Panama Canal, it served in the military for over 40 years before retiring in the 1990s.

Now, the USS Midway is one of the most popular attractions in the southern California region. Docents are readily available and all are veterans of various military branches. Get lost in the halls and rooms of this incredible ship, take an audio guide to learn more about its history, and spend your spring break exploring a part of California few see!

Getting on Board

There’s also the USS IOWA, which is home to the Pacific Battleship Center and features one area that’s been converted into an 80-seat theater. Visitors of all ages adore the ships, and it’s an excellent way to break up a busy trip of Disneyland and shopping.

Get on board today! Tickets are available “at the dock” to make this a potential last minute outing.

The Dana Point Festival of Whales

March 2nd, 2016

Earmark the first two weekends of March for the Dana Point Festival of Whales, an annual event where you get the best chance of seeing the massive whales in migration between Mexico and Alaska. On March 5th, a morning parade celebrates the movement of California’s biggest coastal residents. For the festival days, you can enjoy free parking and shuttle services (including the water taxi!) at this family-friendly tradition.

Choose from a selection of boating excursions, but reserve your tickets soon! The most popular option is the two-hour tour, but you can select morning cruises, evening expeditions, and even a yacht outing to make the most of your trip. All guides are experts at spotting the whales and will ensure you’re in the best position possible for whale watching.

An Event to Remember

The bluffs overlooking Dana Point are gorgeous, and you can do some great whale watching from that vantage point too. There’s a three mile trail that winds down to the beach, the perfect way to start your day of whale watching.

Dana Point is open year-round, but with up to 80 whales passing through daily during the festival, now is the time to increase your odds of spotting them as they make their trek.

Fashion Island Itinerary

October 22nd, 2015

No trip to southern California is complete without a stop at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. Here you’ll find the best in shopping, dining, special events and a once-in-a-lifetime cinematic experience! In November, Santa’s House opens on the 13th and of course the Black Friday sales can’t be missed. However, when it comes to planning your day at Fashion Island, it pays (literally, in savings!) to be prepared.

Start by booking your very own personal shopper so you can streamline the shopping process.
