Take a break from the rides and thrills and head over to the Santa Ana Zoo for a more exotic experience. Located just down the road from Disneyland, this serene animal sanctuary gives you a little more than a mouse with a big pair of ears. For a 20 acre, privately funded zoo, the Santa Ana Zoo packs a punch. Often referred to as the Home of the 50 Monkeys, the original founder stipulated that the park must contain at least 50 monkeys at all times before he gifted the Zoo to the City of Santa Ana. Abiding by that request, there always an array of exotic monkeys for your viewing pleasure.
That’s not all! Check out the Amazon Rainforest exhibit and see various birds from South America and Central America. Take a tour through the farm exhibit and see the rare farm animals on display in the two-story red barn complete with a silo. If that isn’t enough for you, hop on the Zoofari Express for a ride around the track or the Conservation Carousel equipped with a Sea Dragon!
Open every day except Thanksgiving, New Years and Christmas, enjoy the extended summer hours until 6pm each evening. Bring a picnic and make it a day at the zoo!
