Celebrate Mom in Southern California

May 2nd, 2016

If you’re celebrating Mother’s Day in southern California, you’re in for a real treat! Disneyland goes all out with specials around the park. Check out the Carthay Benedict at Carthay Circle Restaurant with two poached eggs riding on petite filet mignon served alongside corn bread and poblano chili hollandaise. At Blue Bayou Restaurant, a crayfish and crusted sea ball on angel hair pasta is available just for mom, complete with herb tomatoes and fennel sauce.

At the Anaheim Packing House, a “progressive dining experience” awaits which hearkens back to the days of massive public markets in Europe. The BXCR Underground Wine Society is a fine place to start, then head to the Curry of the Day at Adya. The Chippy fries up the best fish and chips in the region, and finish the day with Ecco’s Georgia peach cobbler.

Treat Mom Right

Little Sparrow Café is a favorite for Mother’s Day brunch with a prix fixe menu featuring classics and innovative dishes from Chef Eric Samaniego. Kimchi fried rice with gochujang grilled pork belly, haricot vert and eggs, and incredible bananas fosters pancakes with maple syrup are a great start to the day.

End the day with a star tour, beach trip, or epic shopping expedition from Rodeo Drive to the famous outlets.

Roll Into the Top Sushi Hot Spots

January 10th, 2016

Anaheim knows how to roll (and it’s not all California rolls!). When you’re traveling along the Pacific coast, you need to try out all the sushi, sashimi and fresh seafood you can. Biyako is a simple, tasty and family-friendly establishment just a few miles from Stovalls Inn. Yosuke Sushi is another winner, serving classic Japanese fare that’s delicious, always fresh and affordable.

Try Orange Roll and Sushi, Orange County’s popular sushi joint that fuses classic dishes with an Americana twist. Chomp Rockin’ Sushi and Teppan Grills serves sushi and other seafood dishes with extra flair—you wouldn’t expect anything less from a restaurant that’s seen a celebrity or two in attendance. No matter how you roll, you can rock it in Anaheim!

Roll Up!

Sushi Town on Lincoln Avenue gives you everything you expect in a sushi joint. Great rolls, good prices, and fast service. There’s also Sushi at Sushi which is (you guessed it!) all sushi, all the time. However, their other dishes are definitely worth checking out. Kagura Restaurant is a more sophisticated establishment, serving only dinner.

Try Ohshima Japanese Cuisine for an intimate setting, Sake Sushi and Grill for lunch, or Sushi Teriyaki for an expansive menu that’s sure to please everyone in your party. Nothing compares to sushi in southern California, and you have a tough choice to make!

Mother’s Day Brunch Ideas

May 7th, 2014

mothers dayMom’s hold very special places in our hearts. Each year we designate a holiday to show them just how special they are and shower them with appreciation for all that they do. This year, take Mom out and treat her to a special meal showing her how much you love and appreciate all that she does in your life.

Disneyland hosts an annual Royal brunch each year at the Disneyland Hotel. In their Grand Ballroom, Cinderella and her Princess friends join you in celebrating mom with a fancy royal feast. Enjoy an extensive buffet while making mom feel like royalty. Kids can enjoy their very own buffet with ‘kid approved’ dishes.

Mix Restaurant and Lounge at the Hilton Anaheim also hosts an annual Mother’s Day brunch making Mom the Queen for the day. This British Champagne Brunch is complete with a Royal thrown at the entrance allowing for the perfect opportunity to capture this special day. Seating is open between 10:30am and 3pm. Be sure to call for reservations.

Disneyland has a variety of restaurants throughout the park that are dishing up something special for Mom this Sunday. The Storyteller’s Cafe at the Grand Californian Hotel has special menu items such as brioche French toast and roasted Salmon. Blue Bayou in the New Orleans Square is offering a savory prosciutto-rapped halibut. If that doesn’t scream ‘You are special’ then try the mouth watering fruit-glazed salmon with mango-kiwi relish at Plaza Inn or the scrumptious honey-mustard, lemon-roasted chicken at Carnation Cafe.
